Types of needles used in embroidery
There are many types of needles are available in the market. The type of needle to choose depends upon the type of embroidery you are doing. Here, I would like to share you most commonly used type of needles in my embroidery projects.
1.Crewel Needles
Crewel needles are one of the most commonly used type of embroidery needles. which has medium long eye and sharp tip. These are used for surface embroidery which requires sharp tip. Because of their sharp tip we can work easily on any fabric. It is very easy to thread any embroidery needle which has a long eye. These needles are good, when threading multiple strands of thread. Because of their long eye these needles are suitable for general sewing. They are ideal for people who have difficulty seeing the eye of a needle.

2.Tapestry Needles
Tapestry needles, which has long eye and blunt tip.
Because of their blunt tip, we can not use these needles for anchor thread or silk thread. They are ideal for lacing or woolen embroidery.

3.Chenille Needles
Chenille needles ,which has very long eye and sharp tip.
Chenille needles comes in sizes 13-28,size 13 is the largest needle and size 28 is the finest needle. These needles are used for surface embroidery like crewel needles. Many people prefer chenille needles than crewel needles, because of their long eye. It is very easy to thread any embroidery needle which has a long eye. we can easily thread multiple strands of thread or woolen thread. 4.Milliner needles
Milliner needles, which has small round eye and sharp tip. Milliner needles are long compared to other needles listed above. Milliner needles also known as straw needles.

5.Beading Needles
Beading needles are very fine and straight with long eyes. They are specially made for threading beads and pearls. To use this needle, simply thread your wire or thread through the center of the eye and load your beads down the length of the needle until it reaches the end of your thread. Selecting the right size of the beading needle is very important for the bead work. The most commonly used beading needles are 10 or 12 size. Selecting the correct needle size depends mainly on two important factors.
1.Type and size of the beads
2.Type and size of the thread
A smaller size bead will require a smaller or thin thread and needle. Beads are available in different sizes. The higher the number of the size of the bead, the smaller the bead and bead hole. Similarly the higher the size of the number of the needle, the thinner the needle is. Based on the size of the bead, we can choose the size of the needle.
