Once the butti design is printed on the fabric you can start filling the design like as shown in the video given on my youtube channel silver knots. Please check my channel for this work.

Stitches used in this butti design are:

  • Spider Web Stitch
  • Leaf Stitch
  • Clove Stitch
  • Fly Stitch
  • French Knots

After tracing the design on fabric first stitch the circle with spider web stitch by using pink color anchor cotton thread.

Spider Web Stitch:

Spider web stitch also known as whipped spider web, ribbed wheel..etc. To work a spider web stitch, first bring your needle back up through the center of the circle. Then at the end of the straight line bring your needle back down through the fabric. In the same way stitch all the lines that were drawn. The number of straight stitches can vary, depending upon the size of the flower and look you desire. After straight stitches, bring the needle up in between any two lines near the center and slide it under the nearest line from right to left. Next slide the needle under the same line as well as next line to the left. This will create a wrap on the first line and now the needle is under the second line to repeat the process. Continue wrapping each line, working around the web and filling it in. When you reach the edge, bring the needle back down through the fabric under one of the line.

Then take yellow color anchor cotton thread and give stitches in between the spider web stitch with long french knots/ clove stitch.

French Knots:

To do a French knot, First bring your needle up through the fabric. Then wrap your thread around the needle once or twice and then go back down in or near the same hole that you came out of. Then bring your needle back down through the other side with your other hand and then go ahead and pull the thread.

Then take six strands of green color silk thread and fill the leaf with fish bone stitch. Take six strands of green color silk thread and stitch the lines with fly stitch.

Fly Stitch:

To do the fly stitch bring your needle up on the top left of your V shape and go a long stitch length to the right and bring your needle down on the top right of V shape. Here don't pull the thread completely and leave a loop on the top. Next go down to the bottom of V shape and bring your needle up through the fabric. Make sure that the thread goes through the loop that we left on the top. and then go one stitch length forward and bring your needle back through the fabric. Again bring your needle up on the left of the V shape and then bring it down on the top right of V shape and go down to the bottom and leave a loop on the top. Then bring your needle up through the loop. So it will maintain that V shape and then go one stitch length forward and bring your needle back. Continue this process till you reach the end of the line.

Then take yellow color anchor cotton thread and put french knots at the end of the lines.
